Since there are many different types of questions, so in order to answer them correctly within the time limit, you need to learn and adopt a skimming technique that means to go through the passage overall to know the crux of the text. Best is to go through the first line of every paragraph thoroughly as that contains the gist or the rough idea of the whole paragraph.

Adopt Scanning technique: When you are done skimming the whole passage, you will fairly have an idea about the content of the passage. Then comes the next strategy called scanning, which helps when you are looking or searching for some specific information or a word in the passage. Go through the entire length of the passage to look for the word/ information you are looking for and underline it.

Learn synonyms: Use of good lexicon always comes handy and proves useful in the IELTS reading module. As when you mark a keyword in the question and you will find a similar word or the synonym in the passage, that is where the answer lies. So learning as many synonyms will always be beneficial in the

This will come with extensive practice sessions.

Use correct spellings: While answering make sure your spellings are correct as an incorrect spelling may lead to incorrect response even though it may be correct, hence your marks will be deducted. Spellings play a crucial role in getting you the good marks, if the spellings are incorrect you get no marks and if the spellings are correct you get full marks.

Identify the Keywords: Another way to get to the answers quickly is to spot the keywords. There are some important and unique words such as the name of a place, person, thing, fact, etc. mark them by underlining them, they will be markers to find the answers.

Increasing reading pace: The more you read the better reading pace you will be able to develop. To enhance your reading pace read a lot from books, journals, magazines, etc. This will not only increase your reading speed but it will also help you to understand the text quickly in one go because the brain decodes/ processes much faster when you are a habitual/ardent reader. Reading will also improve your word power which not only will assist you in attempting reading exams but will also help you in good writing skills by making use of a good choice of words.

Take practice tests: Practice tests always help you in attempting the actual tests in less time because the more you will practice, gradually your speed to attempt the test will increase which will definitely help you in acing the exam. It will give you the actual idea about how the real exam will be.

Read online samples: There are many sample practice session reading passages available online, you should definitely go through them to know and understand their difficulty level and what kind of English language is used in the passage. Go through the samples again and again to understand the meaning of the text. It will help you in knowing the concept of the passages you get in the reading exam. Because not all the texts will be easy or will be difficult, you can judge that only when you go through a plentiful of them. Once you are familiar with the content type, it will become  easier for you to understand.

Prepare well for the exam: Even if you are good at English skills, the IELTS exam is a type of exam that can not get you high scores until you prepare well for it. Because there is no pass or fail criteria in the exam but yes bands matter. The better the preparation will be, the higher the bands you will get. As the preparation will help you know the type of questions, the way to handle each type of question, strategies to adopt while attempting the reading test. All these things make you more well-versed with the exam and you will be able to face the reading exam more fluently.

Look for transition words: While reading the passage during your reading exam, always look for the transition words or linking words as they are the ones that change the meaning or hold very significant information that may contain the answer. Sometimes the first few lines of the passage may seem as if they contain the answer but if you read further the answer may lie after the transition word. So be watchful for such words and read it till the end before inferring anything. This is the main catch in the reading passage because we are usually in a rush and under stress so we write the answer from the lines of the passage which has the keywords or synonyms but we do not read further. So be careful to read the text fully before writing your answers.
